Bay Area Food for Thought - created and Implemented by DLC
Goal:
To leverage engagement & leadership among a Pharmaceutical company's top talent and to enhance best practices within all of its Divisions.
"“With the ultimate goal of delivering on our commitments to patients, customers and shareholders who rely on us, we can focus on improving the
way we communicate in all divisions; operating with transparency in everything we do; and on listening to the views of all people involved in best practices.”
- Creating a culture of networking, understanding the company's portfolio while providing the opportunity to enhance leadership
- Providing shared best practices across all divisional lines within the company – understanding the “WHY”
- Expanding personal knowledge and development opportunities
Outcome:
To keep an open mind about “best practices” so that we can share and possibly adopt successes within each Division and within each Regional Geography. Provides the opportunity to meet other key/emerging colleagues for professional development – networking.
Participants:
A key/emerging colleague from each division within the company would be hand selected by each District Manager (i.e. Psychiatry, Institutional Sales, Biologics, Opthalmics , Oncology, Primary Care A & B, Endoctrine Care etc.). The representative’s responsibility would be to represent their district’s best practices—not just their best practice ideas.
Time spent would be voluntary since the meetings would be held after hours; hence, it would require a personal commitment.
Agenda proposal:
- Dinner meeting at a central location with a private room, three+ hour commitment
- Minutes would be taken from each meeting and forwarded to each District Manager, Regional Manager & Participants
- Each participant is expected to provide a professional presentation – Approximately 15+ minutes per participant
- 5 minutes – Their Product overview (learning process for other individuals)
- 10 minutes - District’s best practice(s), explain the “WHY” , write-up / example is required for the group. This would allow a living document process for future references
- 2 minutes – Participants also involved in a Book Club, a report out on the “two top take aways” on a discussion of leadership based on the assigned book.
- The Leadership Test by Timothy Clark
