My company Mission Markets is an organization that has created technology and proccesses focused entirely on increasing the flow of capital into the social and environmental capital markets. Via our impact investment and environmental credit platform we promote the use of impact investments and environmental market based mechanisms that can help scale direct investment into double and triple bottom line enterprises and environmental projects.
Problem
The use of investment capital as a means to support positive social and environmental impacts is rapidly growing, however it is still in its infancy and the multiple service organizations involved has created a very fragmented market with little centralization and standards. Additionally, the use of environmental market based mechanisms to reduce pollution, conserve ecosystems and protect habitats is rapidly evolving and becoming a more accepted practice here in the US and now expanding globally.
However there is a lack of centralized information and transactions infrastructure that can bring stakeholders together to not only identify viable opportunities but to do so in s standardized and structured manner that would help mainstream capital to become involved.
If this persists, these markets will continue to grow independently creating fragmentation and making it difficult for corporations and institutional investors to become involved.
Solution
To solve this problem Mission Markets has created an online securities regulatory compliant impact investment platform and the worlds first multi environmental credit platform (supporting water pollution credits, carbon, wetlands, habitat, sustainable agri-commodities and more) that seeks to centralize and organize the process of identifying and investing in companies that seek to provide solutions to global social and environmental problems as well as monetize positive environmental actions.
We have already tested both platforms in beta and have begun an implementation strategy. The biggest challenge is bringing these two markets together as social and environmental markets stakeholders do not typically interact with each other.
To do this we are now creating an open innovation and networking platform called "CONNECT" that will serve to bring both stakeholder groups together supporting shared knowledge and collaboration linking platform members to our impact investment and environmental credit platforms into one centralized community. CONNECT provides:
- Peer reviews and ratings for posted innovations
- Branded community portals for private networks
- Innovation challenges
- Services wanted posting and reverse auctions board for entrepreneurs and services providers
- Crowdfunding for social and environmental innovations
- FINRA compliant and Securities regulatory firewall for private investments
- Discreet innovation and deal data rooms
