Field Research - Sabbaticals to build empathy

Sampling the human condition of others - walking in their shoes - is what engenders empathy.  So, every 5 years have high-potential employees "walk in the shoes" of someone at the forefront of the change the company is trying to make.  For example, if the firm aims to conserve water...live in a place where there isn't any, etc. Next, build communities in the firm around these experiences.  Have these communities "retreat" for once a year to check-in on progress made and goals achieved.
