Summary
Leaders can get a lot more done if they did a lot less. 60%+ of time is wasted by top executives as the context for leadership has changed faster than our assumptions. This hack uses complexity science/chaos theory to show how to get a lot more for a lot less.
Problem
Leaders today grapple with complexity and increasingly it is clear that they realise they do not know the solutions, but are unable to say that! So they work harder to try to solve the problems of the organisation - which is what many believe leadership is about. But that idea is now anchronisitic - a new view of leadership is emerging.
Solution
The core is for leaders to learn "wu wei" - the art of letting go, and both understanding, influencing and allowing the underlying flow to get results. This may look chaotic but there are simple rules to follow to enable the best chance of success.
Practical Impact
The practical impact is for better results for less effort.
First Steps
The first step is for leaders, when faced or asked for a solutuon to a diffcult problem to is to say "I do not know - but how do you think we could find out? What would you suggest and how could I help you?".
