So, What Are You Famous For? Focus on Strengths - Forget the "Needs Improvement" Cycle of Shame

Everyone wants to be famous - It is more important to determine who you want to be famous to. My interview process was applied to 75  leaders. The simple interview process involved asking what three words describe you best?....then three more?...then three more? The first three words = best stories ; what they were famous for, the second set = hand in hand words and used in the telling of the stories and the third set contained action-oriented words as they began to envision acting out their brand. The common threads - leaders have the courage to form an opinion and gauge their performance against their own yardstick. Focusing on the brand words - their strengths - helped them achieve greater performance. Each of us has strengths that improve our performance - don't waste a lot of time on a weakness - the strength is the point of performance. Change your next evaluation cycle to forget the "needs improvement" attitude and celebrate the strengths -
