Story:
2/18 Laps special drill file : a squared social leap.
Few companies organize to cross multiple lanes including Highly Occupîed Vehicle ones to re-invent themselves.
Note : if you have feeling of "Deja Vu", like popular social posts multiple sharing, it is no bug or spam, you are fine.
Innovation is partly in this rapid prototyping and entanglement experience between different stories and dimensions. It is innovating on innovation illlustration and live showcase.
Few companies set up the environment for individuals to do the same.
We interviewed a guy who experienced 18 laps race event into the innovation pool into the same company.
Some kind of initiatic workout for innovation talent development.
This story is 100% facts based. It is Drilling the Drill of one specific lap. This is Lap 2.
Social Technologies is not so much about adopting what is already an innovation.
It is about to dare testing and using it in ways as different as possible compare to the previous sharing channels and processes.
And first avoid to reproduce and fit it in the established hierarchy and associated schemes and patterns. It is about to add to it.
Clear bias of social communities is a daring positive energy that is expected to contaminate peers.

We are talking a 20 years period.Lap2 kicked off early 2010. Some premices are described form back in 2007.
The company where the "pool" hosted this weird swimming workout has grown from 5 to 50 thousands employees in the time.
Regional to global status.
Although this organization is considered innovative, no official program has been set up for such long distance and multi experience dive.
The flash interview has been inspired by the Mix Challenge.
Real field experience is analyzed as a stand-alone testimony, among a chain of 18 stories.
However, smart readers will also find out a series of related hacks.
Abundant food for thoughts.
A recurrent quote is that the core trade basics require "5 years to learn how to float".
With few written materials in a time preceeding ISO certification programs, coulpled with a fast expanding company and individuals scopes, the guy interviewed rapidly understood that problems will come up quickly without any troubleshooting guide.
This was not about firefighting.
Young recruits were feeling like scouting on a "Terra Incognita".
Draft maps provided not representing the territory.
Many would prefer "18 holes" for a title and the story could lead through a nice golf course.
Especially our Mix Guru.
Appealing outdoor demanding exercise.Concentration and precision skills development drive.
Diversity in the landscape. Time for mind simulation and computation.
Sorry, the journey sounds quite more repetitive, breath-taking but for no gorgeous scenery.
Against the clock. And bouncing back on a wall.
Our recruit is describing his professional experience as a swimming workout.
Here are the number 2 out of the 18 Questions & Answers giving details of the experience :
2.Did coach (es) leverage new social technologies to bring the best ideas to the fore?
Do you mean : social with a s ? That is to say putting many swimmers into the same pool spread into similar lanes and connected by some underwater acoustic or mimic instant messaging like scuba or apnea diving buddies ?.
I would say : my sponsors . So do my sponsors encourage me and my friends to twitt, link, goog or like ?
This is obviously a much recent experience.Yes, I had the chance to bring up together a Co-Operative revival....This is obviously a much recent experience.Yes, I had the chance to bring up together a "Co-Operative revival"....I had to wait for the technos to exist so it is much more recent experience. I started getting props back in summer 2007;
Brand new Goggles. With only one O. Much more waterproof and fog-free. and we enjoyed a recognized success after 5 years of different experimentation and the release of the last generation of Google suite. It was like moving from pictures shots to sub-marine video motion to fine -tune all of our practices.
Couple of examples of the Lap 2 routine also happened before and after the millenium, and again at a larger scale as we speak (or your readers read), with a clear momentum gained since 2006.
Internet connections were provided for only a decade although the very fresh recruit could not believe it as it is taken for granted to get a decent connection to be able to work.
I got Access to the web in 1995, as one of the 9 first company connections on the European soil.
Was it provided by a strategic plan decided by the top management ?Not so clearly. Or clearly not.
My chance was some kind of random adoption of a temporary office more to be understood as a cubicle like basic room in a remote building within a consulting and project management assignment.
Like I decided to swim into some remote lane away from the sunny side, less busy and smooth water.
My very next neighbour that I did not know being the brand new CIO, lost in re-location too, and quite a barbarian into the empire. Some senior swimmer raised in the shark pool of early computer industry major, a brillant mathematician and restless bridge player (he would keep competing on-line during highly demanding executive board debates), with high interest for the fringes of any kind, including management.
Lanes to Squares. Prachuap Khiri Khan Credit Frédéric J. Leconte 2012
"Lanes to squares" Illustrates how much it is important not to reproduce the structure when moving to the social technos and communities but getting to the squared level of innovating on the innovation and let the individuals to position (center or fringe) and choose their color (shining , medium or passive).
Not at all a product of the internal executive nursery but the typical sign of an opening to some kind of diversity at the top. True story this maverick mentor now retired, was so network wired and politically uncorrect that I officially intronized fellows gravitating inside his influence and attraction "The 12 monkeys army" despite their number being slightly above.Kind of early hurs internal anonymous.
Same for ride up to the premice of the cloud in 2007, thanks to the same senior shark doubling the official coach who proposed myself to be a business pilote for social sharespaces experience.
it was like trying to practice with all others group swimmers while linked with a lousy rope. technology was not squeeky clean at that time.We were talking V1.0 or even Beta test.
But this was a non planned but breakthrough dynamic with a shy innovation speech.
The only other outsider in the pilote try-out was the Information Technology group. Quite impressive on the start line.
Coaches were not much paying attention to the remote lanes in lap 2, although some buzz started to circulate and escalate. Humming is today hitting the radar screen at the same time it show up into more typical management press and consulting groups newsletter channels.
Best Practices social community is the actual new booster of pre-existing technical communities built during the hype time of Knowledge Management within regular org chart organizations ( where silos bridging and sharing was already expected).
The not yet winned battle for change going on can be defined as a new attempt based on connecting some unexpected layers and partners.
Building of giant mirrors is the new step where small units co-operating are giving access to a combined enlarged scope. As pictured into the James Webb telescope used for the logo of the community.
LAP 2 Score : 1
In/in coefficient : 1
--------------------------------------
Benefit 1: innovators get boosted. morale, exposure, ideas and associated measures, chrono logs and results to recycle, peers and experts cheering support.
Benefit 2 (indirect from #1): ensure several laps advance in the innovation race & learn to anticipate hidden (and more visible) sharks’ catch points.
Benefit 3: challenge your means (and limitations) to plunge into action as you will get extra means from the co-operative blooming
Metrics : 7 communities built in 7 months. LOFT Best-Practices sub community being a good example with 338 members. Overall cluster of 10,000 members.
------------------------------
Time to learning reduction of 50%.
Increased visibility and implementation footprint of pre-existing Best Practices that were suffering from hidden treasure trove's syndrom and out of reach very organized repositories with confidentiality access issues.
A simple model (Google Docs kind of spreadsheet capabilities) is provided to proximity managers to populate their very local specific real numbers such as labor costs or working hours, as well as cost of goods with any kind of supply chain costs or portfolio mix. Same for Best Practices valuation, posted to convince peers to implement in their own water fields.
Sustainable, Web 2.0-scale improvement. Ou-performing the 1:10:100 scale effect that is typical to Web 2.0 technologies. 1040 trainers and coaches inspire 1600 workers to contribute to the development of over 10,000 individuals.
LOFT participants have shared over 10,000 pictures, videos, graphic simulations and ideas.
There is also a micro corporate team of 5, plus 2 Master of Science in Innovation searchers/students/ apprentices.
A core team of passionate focused on growing sustainability solutions and roots, thanks to this unique diverse 2.0 community of 2,000 enablers of collective intelligence.
It is now an autonomous eco-system with new leaves growing without organization inputs or pre-approval or limitation.
It is not so much at work as of today, but this a very promising and necessary lead.
Changes in the environment conditions are causing effects on the surface. Ripples or even shaking waves.
A company betting on innovation must develop progressive communities coatings (multiple design and multiple layers nano-stacks), or live information loops that can neutralize solitude.on long distance drill efforts.
Operators as well as experts can do extraordinary things with extra-care and a true share of voice.
In a time of budget austerity, limited resources in the war for talent may be successfully used to train the individuals in the pool and those sponsors can afford to transfer.
Management innovation and Web 2.0 tools both provide great opportunities for individual growth and multiple ways to benefit the company.
This is not compliant with a patent oriented kind of innovation, but for all other moves aiming to revisit existing channels, relationships, transmission, it is a valuable low capital lab.
Collective intelligence does grow fast and bright within a social environment.
Examples of other swimmers/managers/contributors encourage less daring individuals and groups to dive .
Co-operative intelligence is the upper level where unsafe conditions are the incentive for seeking unheard proposals to go back quicker to the safe side.
Experience the value of daring and moving the lines is a workout that can change your entire career.
Not because you will innovate for every single challenge, but because you are confident it is eventually another talent that may help you when you feel a little short on your own skills.
Just in case ....
