I'm convinced that the constantly changing world needs to take into consideration the impact of socio-cultural values, masculine and feminine. Inventing new values and improving our professional life on a day-to-day basis calls for increasingly strong aspirations towards more adaptable guidelines. New management methods come up constantly to escort this profound change of society. Fortunately we finally understand that human potential is crucial for these efforts of adaptation to new paradigms.
Indeed, undergoing change in business, traditionally run by a masculine values system, is extremely difficult but nevertheless vital for society’s' development. Historically women have always been a major element when it comes to change. So it seems only fair putting upfront the potential of feminine values in order to provide in particular women a comfort zone. So far women in a masculine value oriented business world still have to adapt their behaviors and squeeze their natural feminine values abilities.
Though beyond the gender issue, the perception of our respective roles impacts determinately individual and collective performance. It is essential to reconsider socio-cultural values for the construction of a better adapted day-to-day life in a modern world.
Cooperation, interdependence, consensus, negotiation abilities, global vision, reciprocity, endurance, psychological strength, motivation, trust, taking into account human needs, creativity are just some of those feminine values qualities. They allow better crisis management, drawing profit of unforeseen situations, building sustainable networks, re-establishing trust with the customers, better talent management, developing leadership and finally allow benefiting from the unlimited resources of human potential.
Integration of feminine values in our functioning provides with no doubt the dynamic solutions that economic and social world is seeking for.
Feminine values are probably more related to practical life. How things may happen, how you can make them happen. I discovered their potential though my professional experience. Being a perfect autodidact, I always faced new situations like a white sheet of paper which needed to be filled. This is probably how I really came to understand how feminine values were my major asset for performance in my unformatted world. What needs to be done, is look at the origines of both systems and become aware of their influence on our behaviours. Once you get this, it's a matter of day to day practice in order to use the best part of the two systems.
Let me point out that feminine values are not female affects or sterotypes of female emotions. It is only a long overdue recognition of an aspect of our minds that had been known for centuries. Although it may be true that women may apply these values more naturally than their male counterparts, it is equally true that men may apply masculine values more naturally than women. However, both male and female managers now should have the choice as to whether to consciously apply cooperative feminine values or more competitive masculine values in specific situations. It is a matter of what works best.
I'm a man and I totally agree : so called feminine values should be integrated in today's management, it would significantly reduce deregulation and improve communication and understanding of others behaviors.
