Story:
A smart leader rather than an ethical leader can be most succesful.

Summary 
Ethics is good to hear, write and preach, but the question arises where exists ethics? At most of the time, we hear ethical speeches from unethical leaders, who preach for ethics but don't practise ethics for themselves or their kith and kin. We have further seen, failure is most often the destiny of ethical leaders. The followers (people) want results while ethical leader is unable to provide results as in this material world where corruption is most rampant, ethical leaders can't bring in results.

So, readers and scholars are invited to lend their valuable views on this aspect, whether a leader should be a smart leader, who can be able to deliver results with his smart moves (rightly or wrongly), or should esentially be an ethical leader with what approach to make him succesful ethically.

Thanks very much for your contribution. It's an interesting question--I would hope that we wouldn't have to choose between the two qualities! I would certainly push back on the idea that ethics and failure go hand in hand, that you compromise profits and success by taking the high road.

But, before diving too deeply into this conversation here, I'm going to suggest that your post might fit better in the BARRIER section of the site. The STORIES section is for well-developed case studies of successful innovation in the context of an organization or industry, while HACKS are about inventing a completely new approach to a crucial management activity or mindset, and BARRIERS (http://www.managementexchange.com/barrier) are about clearly defining the inherent challenges and roadblocks when it comes to tackling any of the Management Moonshots (whether its about embedding the ethos of citizenship and community into organizations or amplifying imagination).
