I believe passionately that we need to move beyond our present paradigm of management to one of leadership - management is about things, leadership is about people and it is people that make the difference.
I have always been impressed and guided by Antoine de Saint-Exupery's words when he said, "As for the future, your task is not to foresee it, but to enable it." I see that as an edict for us all, but particularly for managers and leaders. We need to better understand that what we do today shapes tomorrow and apply more long-term thinking to what we do and the consequences of our actions. But that begins with me.
