Me in Three
- A former successful, large company CHRO who now speaks, writes & coaches about people skills and leadership... and the need for new approaches to management if we want to triple results... and save the world. In very turbulent environments I was able to overcome the layoff nickname "Dr. Death" to help create a "best company to work for" - and I believe most people can learn to do this... so we can all enjoy work at the same time we're vastly improving productivity.
- All my work grew out of Zen philosophy and its focus on facing paradoxes (contradictions) squarely to get 'best from both' and it's continued on in the study of complexity science as it applies to simplifying a better understanding of what leaders do that actually works. My 'work' is fun, so I can't imagine why I wouldn't do it, for free if necessary, indefinitely into the future.
- I didn't see any contradiction between being a successful union leader and bargaining for management - it's problem solving to find what's best for both. Despite being 'retired' my raison d'etre is to further complex solutions sooner rather than later and so make a huge part of our everyday lives more enjoyable and rewarding. I love the Jerry Garcia quote: Somebody has to do something and it's just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us.
