Accountability

Management allows responsibility ("it is in my baliwick") to replace accountability ("I own getting it done"). As a result, individual management (unlike best practice project management) rarely gets done on time, on budget, within scope and with everyone intact and relatively satisfied. Managers need to view their work as mini-projects to be executed with the same discipline.
