Hack:
MOVE Innovation in your Organization with Hate, Love and Utopia
In order to MOVE innovation in organizations we need to encourage the process of hate, love and utopia. A process of changing mindset to think of negatives (hate) and compare these to positives (love) then identifying perfect dream solutions (utopia). Once we have channeled this process we find ourselves capable of generating ideas to problems as our previous ancestors have done with their drive for solutions to problems based on the means for survival, which became instinctive within these societies. We can then MOVE for Innovation.
For generations people and societies have had to adapt to situations and their environments as conditions have changed or when a change has been required in order to advance the current state of knowledge. This natural form of innovation was in the form of trial and error and this has been the basis of innovation since human beginning.
This form of innovation was primarily due as needs were required to be met and change was required in order to survive thus it became instinctive. Basic needs were required such as food and shelter, and society rapidly advanced as the need to bond and acquire developed through this need for survival. As basic human needs and quality of life have evolved through time human beings can live within society with little change being required, when compared to our ancestors that had to continue to innovate on a regular basis for survival. As a result the need to change and evolve has decreased compared to previous generations as our basic needs are generally readily available, and are being met. This creative thinking to change based on survival and acquire is a powerful motivator to innovate. However innovation has evolved in the modern era to a requirement to maintain or establish a competitive advantage over other competitors in business, which encourages a small minority to innovate and thus drive change in business, organizations and society. The rate of this innovation has been based on people or organizations needs to acquire and gain wealth rather than survival. This is a powerful motivator for some but not all in people and organizations. As a result the majority of people are users of innovators products whom don’t need to innovate in their everyday life so the ability to develop innovative initiatives within organizations has become more difficult. As a result it is difficult for business to encourage innovation if people don’t know how to innovate in the first instances. So how do we redevelop our instinct to innovate?
By creating the MOVE process of developing instinctive innovation through hate, love and utopia. It needs to be first realized that everyone is capable of innovation as it is human instinct, but we need to redevelop this skill for innovation to become mainstream in our organisations. We then need to invite people to innovate through the process of hate, love and utopia. This is a practical systems based approach to channeling thought to areas that appeal to our senses and environment making it possible for us to think of different approaches to the challenges faced. This will hopefully then lead to the final step of the MOVE to innovation. So what are the steps involved?
Step 1. Identify Hate
Hate is a powerful word that brings about negative connotations to our senses and thoughts. This includes levels within hate ranging from frustration to anger then finally to hate. These negative thoughts and frustrations are very powerful if they are harnessed in a thought provoking manner. It is these thoughts that provide intense opportunity to innovate in everyday life if we can learn to recognize these negative thoughts as positive opportunities to innovate. When we experience these thoughts we must then think of the opposite to these thoughts which is of love. Love provides the reversed swing of thought on the negative and places a possible positive to counter the negative, resulting in the opportunity to change and thus innovate.
Step 2. Identify Love
Humans are passionate beings who thrive to do things that they like as this bring them joy and happiness. When we think of love and the things we enjoy doing we are embedded with positive thought processes and solutions. Love is very much the opposite of hate, but when merged together to think in terms of innovation we can create solutions to problems then this hate can turn to opportunities of love through the development of our envisioned Utopia.
Step 3. What is the Utopia?
Utopia is a perfect situation and thoughts that result in the perfect outcome. Often humans limit utopia to dreams of the perfect utopia situation that they believe can't exist. However it is these very purposeful thoughts and dreams of utopia that are required to think outside of the square in developing new lateral thoughts and initiatives so that a perfect situation can mentally be thought of to counter the problems that exist within hatred. The solution to hatred is to be found somewhere between love and utopia.
The implementation of hate, love and utopia can easily be encouraged and implemented within society and business. It starts with creating the awareness that our frustrations are the onset and the seed for innovation. When we are aware that these forms of hatred are the building blocks of innovation we are a step down the path of change and innovation. Once the problem has been identified and all of the negatives of that problem it is important to then think of the complete opposite which is of love. The positive effect to the negatives. Once we have these opposite thoughts channeled these represent the problem and the opportunity. The next part of the equation is the most important part that is of utopia, the perfect solution to the problem that expands on love of the negative and the problem. What is the most perfect solution to the hatred (problem)? It is this optimistic almost impossible thought that is the foundation of change and innovation that we must strive to evolve in our thought processes in order to further enhance and innovate into the future so we can then MOVE innovation within our people, societies and organizations. The innovative solution is to be found some where between the thoughts of love and the perfect Utopia.
Step 4. MOVE for Innovation
Maximizing thinking between the positive love and the dream Utopia explores all areas in-between which will lead to the potential opportunity that will be new solutions to counter the problem/s faced (hate).
Opportunity will develop through this thinking process that exists somewhere in this maximum. Once this has been found in the form of an idea or concept the opportunity can then be validated.
Validation puts the idea or concept into practice to see how the thought performs in reality. This will determine whether the idea or concept will be engaged.
Engaging involves the initation of the idea/concept into the operation of the business or organization to add value based on original objectives to the problem (hatred) faced.
People are naturally innovative beings capable of radical change and adaption if required or forced to do so. However encouraging people to innovate requires people to understand how to innovate again for personnel and organizational endeavor. It is for this reason that people will learn the process of innovating first if it is an area or problem they are most passionate about. Once this has been developed and process realized then the same process can be used in business and organizational settings. In an environment where innovation is encouraged this process will lead to more lateral thinking and ideas will come through all levels of the organization rather than down through the organization. People will see that no matter where or who you are, everyone is capable and responsible of generation of thoughts ideas and concepts that leads to innovation. If the hate, love, utopia process is enhanced to MOVE innovation then developing a culture of continual improvement and competitive advantage will exist that will be the edge required to succeed into the future for our societies, businesses and organizations.
Implement Hate, Love and Utopia then MOVE Innovation
- Identify Hate, Love and Utopia for a personal passion. Human beings are passionate people with wants and desires. With this comes areas of interest where people are enthusiastic about a particular topic, hobby, sport, occupation, issue of personal relevance to them. The key is to encourage passionate thought of the problems that exist within this passion. All of the negative issues around that topic.
- Identify Love in regards to the topic. All of the positive issues and effects along with the opposites to the negatives in hate of the problem.
- Develop thought of Utopia around the problem. A dream of the perfect situation to the problem. Then MOVE innovation.
- Maximize thinking between the positive love and the dream Utopia. Explore all areas in-between which will lead to the opportunity.
- Opportunity exists somewhere in the maximum once this has been found in the form of an idea or concept the opportunity needs to be validated.
- Validation puts the idea or concept into practice to see how the thought performs in reality. This will determine whether the idea or concept will be engaged.
- Engagement involves the initiation of the idea/concept into reality based on original objectives to problems (hatred) faced.
Once these first steps have been followed for personnel passion people can then start replicating this type of thinking into their organizations that will help develop a culture of instinctive innovation, as was the culture of our ancestors.
