Summary
Recession disallowed growth in certain industries. This saw a learning stagnation for years not enabling a role enhancement, especially in the knowledge based industry.
Description
As the recession crept in, some industries were badly affected. A still worst case scenario was the knowledge service providers.
Scenario: As the world is looking for cost control/ cost cutting, etc. the leverage is more on the traditional, conventional and more tested way of business. Hence the risk appetite of exploring new and innovative avenues to expand the business has been significantly reduced. Especially with the conservative management teams. This slingshots the knowledge providers. As the business slows down and exploratory study becomes limited, the type of research work undertaken by the knowledge based service providers is reduced to reinforcing same tried and tested conventional ways of business. Here the opportunity to learn is considerably reduced and gradually stagnated.
How could this situation be better tackled?
Root Causes
Change resistance/ Lack of knowledge to tackle an unforeseen scenario
