Primarily I am an paediatrician with a specialist interest in emergency care (Leicester Hospitals, UK). I am also an academic (Leicester University) and have an interest in mechanisms to aid health care professionals identify the most sick children but also support them in sending the most well ones home.
I am keen to dissociate myself from stock phrases such as 'leader', 'improver' and 'patient champion'. I do believe though, that focusing on quality at every encounter is a difficult but necessary way to improve the quality of care patients receive.
As a paediatrician and a parent I juggle many balls (I can do this literally) and am ever grateful for the support of family and colleagues to bring me back to reality when most needed.
