Barrier:
Many to one, and many to many relationships
Whether its people or business opportunitiesĀ real insight - that helps an organisation improve- lies, I believe, in gaining insight on what decisions result in good outcomes... however they are ultimately measured or valued. How does your organisation track the outcomes in many to one or even many to many relationships?
Hi Gary:
Great question. recent research indicates (Bain & Company study, HBR June 2010) that companies that tie their structure & operations directly to strategic decision-making generally perform better. This may also tie into the importance of offloading busy work to increase the chances of effective execution (as mentioned on this site with the PfizerWorks example). As the recent IBM Business Value Institute CEO Report indicates, we are in a non-linear world that is requiring systems & cross-systems level thinking to make sense of the increased speed and volume of information that is hitting us. We have to be creative. The report
lists specific business model drivers that set apart top performers from the rest of the crowd.
I would be happy to e-mail you the link to the report, as I have done for a fellow MIXer. Let me know! Eric Schillinger
