Hack:
Hack your Meeting
Changing the culture of an organization is a complex and multifaceted operation that requires a lot of effort... The transformation can obviously be undertaken from various angles … hacking is one of them.
Hacking is a viral and very relevant approach when it comes to change and improve cultural elements of everyday working-life, like meetings…
Meeting is a strong symbol in organizational culture… and meetings, often seen as waste of time, can be hacked!
Here are the 8 hacks…
Meetings are often seen as waste of time. Lack of efficiency. Low level of engagement. No participation. Symbol of bureaucracy.
8 practical hacks
- Prepare your Meeting (using the 7P checklist and installing a collaborative environment)
- Use Ground rules (share them and make them visible)
- Clarify meeting purpose (the reason of the meeting, in the invitation and on the WALL!)
- Make the agenda visible (show the process, show the progress)
- Try the "delegated meeting" (using systematic delegated functions)
- Make participation optional (using ESVP tool for example)
- Be action oriented (making your brainstorming solutions oriented and always finishing with a simple Action Plan or Next Steps )
- Take feedback to improve (using ROTI, Return on Time Invested tool for example)

Interesting hack - i liked the idea of letting meeting roles such as facilitator and time keeper rotate among participants. Great work. Here are some more inputs on the topic: http://www.slideshare.net/frankcalberg/facilitationmoderation-of-meetings

Very interesting approach – do you have experience with the Agile Methodology outside the usual Software/Product Development environment? I never came across Agile in other business functions than Product Management and Software Development. Our days are usually packed with meetings and I really like the idea of analyzing the “Return on time invested” - the result could be surprising.
